The Church of the Annunciation, Marble Arch currently has vacancies for an soprano and an alto. For the alto place, male or female singers will be considered.
The regular commitment is for a Sunday sung Mass weekly throughout the year (we don't take a summer break as some of the London choirs do). Currently we rehearse at 10:00 for a service at 11:00 (a change to an earlier service time is under consideration).
There are additional services around Christmas (normally a carol service on one of the Sundays in Advent, with Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and Mass on Christmas morning) and Easter (Maundy Thursday evening, the afternoon liturgy on Good Friday as well as Mass on Easter Day). The choir also sings for the Feast of the Annunciation (25 March, or as transferred; usually an evening Mass). Current fees are £45 per service paid monthly.
The normal choir strength is a quintet (SSATB); we're ideally looking singers who are able to fit in musically and socially with this size of group and comfortable with the usual good standards of sight-singing, accuracy, etc.
Applications are open until the end of February, after which auditions and trial services for selected people will be arranged
